Trim the lower performers, but the determining value should be done correctly. Whether it’s employees or contractors, it shouldn’t matter as bottom line cost is just a short-term and lazy way to calculate the cost. I don’t want my house being built by shoddy people, even though they might be cheaper on paper, an A-team will outperform a team of 2-3x their size of low performers all day (and the house won’t start falling apart in a year).
